Career Opportunity
Kenna & Associates operates with a vision of the firm that continues and thrives in the times to come today — a commitment to service excellence, professionalism and teamwork, with emphasis on innovation and client responsiveness. The firm provides high-quality and cost-effective legal services through attention to client relationships, careful engagement management, practice diversity and investment in people and technology.
As one of Nigeria’s leading law firms, we recognize the importance of hiring knowledgeable and talented staff to support our attorneys. We invest considerable resources in the hiring, training and development of our people, and recognize that capable and dedicated people are a valuable asset to the firm. Kenna & Associates’ commitment to professionalism and excellence in providing legal services to our clients is evidenced in the caliber of attorneys hired by the firm. Our attorneys are bright people and leaders in their chosen fields.
We pay attention to such value adding things like training and guidance, treatment by partners, client contact and compensation. The Firm offers Associates excellent client contact and compensation (including the base salary and year-end bonus). We select associates who we believe can become partners of the firm - people with a record of excellence in academic works (with good research and publication skills), and are sincerely committed to the practice of law. We do not set targets in selections. Selection is on a need basis.
Kenna & Associates is committed to deliberate and careful growth. We do not seek to be everything to everyone, and as such we decline work in areas that we consider proper so to do. We are looking for superb lawyers to join us for the long term. The culture of the firm is one of mutual respect. This is emphasized by the direct client contact we give to associates, the working environment and our structure. We encourage direct relationship and responsibility to the Client, and as such we do not emphasize so much the seniority and age that is the norm most firms.
We want to see complete Lawyers that can undertake matters from start to finish with confidence and flexibility. We value counseling skills, independent thinking and creativity in our lawyers. We have a technology enabled practice that provides the platform for today’s modern practice of the law. In addition to the infrastructure, we provide our lawyers with notebooks, cell phone and electronic diaries.
We are committed to providing our associates with a level of compensation (including base salary and year-end bonus) that is comparatively high amongst other firms. The benefits we offer also reflect this commitment, including full payment of premiums for medical insurance. Our associates are entitled to three months of paid maternity leave, with additional unpaid leave time available. We also have permitted associates to adopt flexible part-time schedules while raising their children. The firm also offers subsidized sports memberships to associates.
Our associates are encouraged and expected to take at least 2 weeks of paid vacation each year. We also provide an Internship Programme for lawyers. Our objective is to give our Interns an experience as close as we can to that of a full associate. We try to expose our Interns to all facets of our practice and involve them actively in negotiations, client meetings, and courtroom matters. Since a primary objective of the programme is to give the intern a chance to get to know us, interns rotate over the course of the programme through several of our major practice areas. Notwithstanding our preference to hire lawyers who have been with us as interns, we do consider lawyers who have not done their internship with us.
